Lupin
Assane Diop (Omar Sy) has conquered the world in recent years with this series inspired by the adventures of the legendary gentleman burglar Arsène Lupine, Assane embarks on a spectacular quest for revenge against the wealthy family that wronged his father. Lupine is lightning fast, stylish and makes optimal use of the beautiful Parisian sets, including an unforgettable crack at the Louvre. With three 'parts' under its belt, this is the series that moves between ingenious magic tricks, disguises and emotional family ties. Omar Sy stars as the modern master thief who is always three steps ahead of the police.
Black Spot (Zone Blanche)
Anyone who has seen La Forêt knows very well that you should think twice before booking a holiday to a remote French town. The crime scene of this nerve-wracking thriller is the fictional Villefranche, where mobile phone coverage is permanently at a standstill. For a solitary mountain village, Villefranche has a suspiciously high murder rate: the number of bodies easily exceeds six times the national average. What sets Zone Blanche apart from other murder mysteries is the ingenious way in which the screenwriters weave the Celtic mythology of the Vosges into the story. The forest is not just a backdrop here, but almost a living, threatening character that does not easily reveal its secrets.

Call My Agent! (Dix Pour Cent)
The absolute crown on the French Netflix selection. The title Dix Pour Cent refers to the fee that talent agencies receive for their clients. We follow the hilarious and often desperate fate of the ASK agents in Paris, who have to navigate between the enormous egos of their star actors and their own shaky private lives. The genius of Call My Agent! is that in each episode real international stars (such as Jean Dujardin, Monica Bellucci and Sigourney Weaver) play exaggerated versions of themselves. The series has now completed four seasons, but there are still whispers about a concluding film. It is the perfect cocktail of French chic, razor-sharp humor and genuine emotion.

Le Bazar de la Charité (The Bonfire of Destiny)
On the evening of May 4, 1897, things went horribly wrong during a major charity exhibition in Paris. A fire in the projection booth reduced the bazaar to a brutal inferno. The disaster claimed 126 lives, almost all of them women from the aristocracy. Among them was even the sister of the famous Empress Sisi. The well-made costume drama shows in eight episodes how three women survive the disaster and try to rebuild their lives in a society full of restrictions. It is a mix of historical drama, mystery and feminism against the backdrop of Belle Epoque Paris.

LaMante
In the six-part miniseries La Mante (The Praying Cock) we follow Jeanne Deber (Carole Bouquet), a serial killer who left a bloody trail through Paris for years. When a series of gruesome copycat murders plagues the capital, the police, in a fit of desperation, call for help from prison. Jeanne agrees to help expose her impersonator, but makes one strict condition: she only talks to Inspector Damien Carrot. Damien is not just any cop, but her own son who has avoided any contact with his mother for years. A psychological jousting ensues in which the lines between hunter and prey become blurred.

Marianne
As a child, Emma Larsimon (Victoire du Bois) was plagued in her dreams by the witch 'Marianne'. Once an adult, Emma wrote off the creepy witch in a best-selling series. But just when she wants to bury her character for good, a friend from the past shows up with a disturbing story. Maybe Marianne isn't a fiction at all? The series is so awful that even horror master Stephen King praised it on Twitter. Although Netflix canceled the series after one season, this eight-part nightmare scenario remains an absolute must-see for those who love French horror with a raw edge.

The Hook Up Plan (Plan Coeur)
Things aren't going well for Elsa (Zita Hanrot). The poor thing is approaching thirty, is struggling in her moribund job and after two years still hasn't gotten over her ex. BFFs Charlotte and Emilie have had enough of the self-pitying heap that their girlfriend has to introduce. Enter Jules: an escort with the cheekbones and maroon eyes of Marc Ruchmann. What started as a plan to get Elsa dating again turns into three seasons of Parisian romance and friendly chaos. The series was a much-needed boost for the French offering on Netflix and concluded in 2022 with a heart-warming final chord.

Family Business
Joseph Hazan (Jonathan Cohen) is going to make it big as an entrepreneur. Unfortunately, he has not yet eaten a mini slice of cheese from the business itself. When his startup flops mercilessly, he is fortunately still able to run the family business. But chopping tartare in his father's kosher butcher's shop, which is on the verge of bankruptcy, doesn't seem like everything to the born unlucky man. When Joseph hears that France is going to legalize weed, everything suddenly falls into place. His son convinces his father to convert 'Boucherie Hazan' into a lucrative cannabis business. The series has now been completed with three seasons full of crazy misunderstandings and unannounced police visits, while the announced legalization takes a suspiciously long time.

The Forest (La Forêt)
The fact that things are not all right in the Ardennes has already become apparent in many nightmares. Is it any surprise that The Forest (La Forêt), which uses the forests of the French Ardennes as its setting, does not predict anything cheerful? Bien sur. Naturally, a 16-year-old girl goes missing in the first episode of this crime series, littered with grim mysteries. The honest new police captain Gaspard Decker (Samuel Labarthe) and the local police officer Virginie Musso jump on the case. Soon, unsolved files from previous disappearance cases rustle out of the undergrowth. Local teacher Ève, who had a traumatic experience as a child in the titular forest, also appears to have a lot to hide.

Inhuman Resources (Dérapages)
Eric Cantona. Who doesn't know the best man? After a great career at Manchester United – including an unforgettable karate kick to an angry Crystal Palace supporter – the French professional footballer turned into an actor. And on the small and big screen he proves to be just as inimitable as on the field. The football legend carries the six episodes of Dérapages on his diligent shoulders as Alain Delambre. A washed-out 57-year-old unemployed guy with a short fuse. An intriguing top vacancy at a company that is in a good position promises relief. But before Cantona's character can raise his bushy eyebrows in bewilderment, he is unwillingly caught up in a hostage drama that is as hopeless as it is crackling.
