Most men don't want to think about watching a Romantic Comedy. Always the same predictable story. But men, don't judge too quickly—there are rom-coms that are also worthwhile for (real?) men. Do you want to treat your girlfriend (and yourself) to a fun movie night? Try one of these titles.
Which one of these deserves the top spot? Cast your votes below and let us know your personal ranking in the comments!

The Big Sick (2017)
Based on the true love story of Kumail Nanjiani and Emily V. Gordon. Cultural clashes, sick humor (and real illness), and a big heart. Less flashy than many rom-coms, but all the more human—and therefore perfect for “I-don't-like-rom-coms” viewers.
Shaun of the Dead (2004)
The first “zom-rom-com”: zombies, romance and comedy in perfect balance. Shaun wants to get his ex back, grow up and, oh yeah, survive the apocalypse. Edgar Wright's timing is brilliant, the gags are strong and underneath the blood is a surprisingly tender heart. The ideal romcom for people who don't watch romcoms. Palm Springs (2020)
“Groundhog Day”, but as a modern rom-com with Andy Samberg and Cristin Milioti. Two wedding guests are stuck in a time loop and learn (after many wrong choices) that vulnerability is less scary than eternal non-commitment. Smart, fast, wonderfully cynical and yet romantic.

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (2004)
Romantic science fiction cult film (try to put that in a box). Jim Carrey and Kate Winslet have memories erased after a painful breakup—and discover what love is really worth. Original, visually beautiful and emotionally touching; no one should be ashamed to have these in their closet.

Crazy, Stupid, Love (2011)
Midlife crisis meets makeover: Steve Carell is taken to task by ladykiller Ryan Gosling (who again falls for Emma Stone). Smartly written ensemble comedy with real warmth, a few immortal scenes (the “Dirty Dancing” lift!) and chemistry rarely seen.

Deadpool (2016)
Yes: underneath all the meta-violence and the one-liners lies a pure rom-com. Wade Wilson (Ryan Reynolds) will do anything to win back his love, Vanessa. It's crude, fast, and absurd—but ultimately just boy-meets-girl (with... katanas). Perfect for those who get a mild rash during “romance”: you laugh too hard to find it soggy.

High Fidelity (2000)
John Cusack as Rob Gordon: record store owner, list fanatic, commitment-averse romantic. He reconstructs his “Top 5” failed relationships and discovers a lot about himself. A romcom for music lovers, with dry humor and a soundtrack to fall in love with.

Kevin Smith films (including Chasing Amy, Clerks, Zack and Miri Make a Porno)
Raw, rude and sometimes downright disgusting... but secretly just rom-coms in work clothes. Chasing Amy is the clearest (love, identity, jealousy), Clerks and Mallrats revolve around love-in-betweens, and Zack and Miri proves that best friends can be in love for years. Bonus points for Jay & Silent Bob.

There's Something About Mary (1998)
The Farrelly Brothers at their best: shameless humor, legendary set pieces and Cameron Diaz in top form. Not two, but a whole line of men go all in for Mary—with Ben Stiller as the king of awkwardness. Bland and irresistible.

The Girl Next Door (2004)
The beautiful Danielle (Elisha Cuthbert) is the quintessential “girl next door”. The boy next door Matthew—ambitious, a bit dorky—immediately falls for her. Sounds like a standard rom-com… until you discover that Danielle has a very atypical profession. Result: embarrassing situations, bawdy jokes and a surprising amount of charm. The Girl Next Door is a wonderful guilty pleasure that belongs on this list.
