Four friends hit someone with their car at night and decide to dump the body in the sea. They swear to keep quiet, but a year later Julie receives a note with the iconic words: 'I know what you did last summer.' What follows is a deadly game, tightly directed and stylishly shot. The cast, with Jennifer Love Hewitt, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Ryan Phillippe and Freddie Prinze Jr., perfectly embodies post-Scream horror. A modern classic that wraps guilt and paranoia in a slasher package.
I Still Know What You Did Last Summer (1998)
Julie tries to recover from her trauma at a Bahamas island resort, but of course the killer finds her there too. This sequel goes bigger: tropical storms, isolated settings and more victims. Brandy and Mekhi Phifer strengthen the cast, but despite the tension the story lacks the freshness of the first film. Still an entertaining horror trip with plenty of nostalgic charm.

I'll Always Know What You Did Last Summer (2006)
The third film drops the original characters completely. A new group of young people repeats the old drama: someone dies, it's kept secret, and a series of murders follows. Unfortunately, this direct-to-DVD production feels like a pale imitation, with no familiar faces, little flair and a script that barely surprises.
